Bruce was a principal of Williams Winter from 1967 to 2007. He has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne and was admitted to practice in 1964.

Bruce has a strong background in commercial and general litigation. His practise includes advising corporations and associations. He also advises on laws relating to charities, the taxation of charities and incorporated associations, in addition to acting for a number of commercial clients.

Bruce is the Returned and Services League of Australia (RSL) (Victorian Branch) State Solicitor. He provides strategic advice to the RSL Victorian Branch and associated entities.

Bruce also appears at the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation (VCGR) on behalf of the RSL and its Sub-branches.

Bruce has four adult children, and is married.
